How we test every product

Every raw material in every product is third-party tested before it is used, and every product has a certificate of analysis. Then we go a step further: we send finished batches from most of our range to independent labs to test for heavy metals, microbiology and active content.

Two levels of testing

Raw materials first, then the finished product

Level 1: every product

Raw materials, tested before use

Every raw material in every product is third-party tested before it goes into a single capsule or scoop. Each product our manufacturer makes comes with a certificate of analysis, and we publish them below.

Level 2: an extra step

Finished batches, tested by independent labs

We then go a step further. We send samples of finished batches from most of our range to independent accredited labs, so the tub you buy is checked as well as what went into it.

Raw material arrives

Each delivery carries its supplier's batch number, so every tub can be traced back to the material it was made from.

Tested before use

A sample is tested by FTIR, which gives a chemical fingerprint to confirm the material is what it should be.

Every tub is labelled with its batch number and best before date, the same batch number you will find on its certificate below.

How raw materials are checked

Every raw material is tested before it is used. These are the checks our manufacturer's approval and analytical teams carry out.

FTIR identity testing

Every batch of raw material that arrives at our manufacturer's warehouse is FTIR tested. This gives a chemical fingerprint of the material to confirm its chemical structure is as expected.

Microbiological testing

Our manufacturer performs microbiological testing on all powders arriving at their warehouse. Further microbiological testing is carried out during the approval stage to verify the supplier's specification.

Pesticide residues

Compliance with Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 is the benchmark, verified through supplier assurances. Any material judged high risk for pesticides is tested to make sure it meets EU requirements.

Contaminants

Contaminants covered by Regulation (EC) No 1881/2006 are checked by the approval team, including nitrate, mycotoxins, 3-MCPD, dioxins, PCBs, PAHs, solvents, acrylamide, antibiotics and melamine. The team assesses each material's risk and obtains assurances or testing from the supplier.

Authenticity (C-14) testing

Where it is judged necessary during approval, a material can be sent for C-14 testing. This checks whether a material sold as natural has been adulterated with a synthetic substance.

Certificate of analysis

Each product is issued with a certificate of analysis showing the batch number and the results against its specification. You will find them for every product in the library below.

Finished batches tested by independent labs

On top of the raw material testing, we send samples of finished product from most of our range to independent accredited laboratories. Depending on the product, the panel covers heavy metals, microbiology and the key active ingredients measured against the label.

Find the certificate for your batch

Every product has certificates of analysis. Where we have also sent a finished batch to an independent lab, that report is listed with it. Search by product or by the batch number printed on your tub or pouch. Each one opens as the original PDF.
